The Surrey
Society of Magicians is a thriving Society formed in February 1991,
and currently has over fifty members. It meets twice a month, on the
second and fourth Thursdays, in Leatherhead, Surrey. Most meetings
consist of an early evening "teach-in" session where members
have the opportunity to participate in a hands on workshop to develop
their skills, followed by a two-hour lecture by some of the most famous
names in magic. The Society is an acknowledged stopping off point for
nearly every foreign magician as part of his UK tour.
One of the greatest
strengths of the Society is its ability to provide a full evening of
magic including intimate close-up magic and a full stage show for local
fund raising organisations. Many thousands of pounds have been raised
for local and national charities by groups using the Society's service.
